Nicole Scherzinger is usually pretty excitable on the X Factor, but this weekend's erratic behaviour saw viewers questioning whether the popular judge was drunk.
She arrived on stage in a party mood, pouting and abandoning the judges lineup to give her contestants a hug (much to the delight of Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh). She eventually rejoined them, jumping up and down and showing off some seriously keyed-up dance moves - which even had serious-faced judge Gary Barlow cracking into a broad smile.
And, throughout the show, the overly excitable Nicole continued to raise eyebrows. At one point, she even failed to notice when host Dermot O'Leary was talking to her - but, after about half a second, she responded.
Her behaviour was the subject of a seriously hot Twitter topic this weekend, with many questioning whether Nicole had been drinking prior to the show.
"Is Nicole Scherzinger drunk right not? Serious q," said Twitter user Miguel Caycedo.
And Chelsea The Vamps, another Twitterer, added: "Sometimes I think Nicole Scherzinger has been drinking before the factor because the stuff she says sounds like drunk people talk."
The debate on Twitter was fuelled by a report in The Sun, where a source claimed that Nicole had been partying in her dressing room before the show.
"Nicole had been to see her girls during the day and knew they were going to do well with the disco theme that night so she was pretty relaxed and decided to kick back by having a party," said the insider.
"Her family were over from Hawaii, and before the show she was dancing and spinning disco classics for them. Everyone was pretty excited and went a bit wild."
"But it is fair to say there were some raised eyebrows. She was definitely more hyper and over the top than previous weeks."
A spokesperson for The X Factor has now officially spoken up in a bid to clear Nicole's good name, saying:
"Nicole wasn't drunk. She was just excited and getting into the disco spirit."
