Despite being released with no promotion, Beyonce Knowles' self-titled new album "Beyonce" managed to become the fastest-selling album in iTunes history. Apple reported that the set sold 828,773 around the world in its first three days, including 617,213 in the United States.

"Beyonce" also broke iTunes' first week album sales record in the country. The record was previously set by Taylor Swift, when her latest studio effort "Red" moved 465,000 copies in its first seven days after being released on October 28, 2012.

The fact that Beyonce's long-awaited fifth album came as a surprise sure helped boost the sales. Additionally, fans were forced to buy the whole album consisting of 14 songs and 17 music videos for $15.99 because they couldn't buy individual songs.

"Beyonce" is now set to debut at No. 1 on Billboard 200 and give Bey her fifth consecutive No. 1 set on the chart. Recently, the former Destiny's Child member revealed that she would release two songs as the album's lead singles. The Pharrell Williams-produced "Blow" will hit Top 40 while the Jay-Z-assisted "Drunk in Love" will go to urban radio.
