The former Disney star says that she may stop covering the Kiwi singer's breakthrough single, 'Royals', on her upcoming shows.
Several weeks ago, Lorde made headlines after dissing Selena Gomez's hits single "Come and Get It". In an interview, the Kiwi singer/songwriter admitted that she was a feminist and she was not a fan of the anti-feminist song.
In a new interview with Flaunt magazine, Gomez said that Lorde's diss was "not feminism." "[Lorde is] not supporting other women," the 21-year-old singer explained. "That's my honest opinion, that's what I would say to her if I saw her."
Gomez, who has been covering Lorde's "Royals" during her tour, added, "I actually covered her song in all of my shows that I've done so far. I'm not sure if I'm going to continue that."
Last month, Lorde explained why she hated Gomez's song. "I love pop music on a sonic level. But I'm a feminist and the theme of her song [Come & Get It] is, 'When you're ready come and get it from me,' " Lorde said as cited by Perez Hilton. "I'm sick of women being portrayed this way."
Gomez has reacted to Lorde's criticism, saying that she appreciated everybody's opinion. The "Spring Breakers" actress then voiced her own opinion. "Feminism and that specific thing is very sensitive because in my opinion it's not feminism if you're tearing down another artist," she said.
Meanwhile, Lorde isn't done taking a jab at the ex-girlfriend of Justin Bieber. She's even attacking Gomez's fellow former Disney stars as well. According to GQ's Q Blog, the 16-year-old pop sensation said she's a "far cry" from the former child stars-turned-singers.
"The difference between those kids and me is that I grew up completely normally and went to parties and had that experience. I am way less inclined to be like, 'Look! I'm f**king mental!' " she recently told the site.
