Ridley Scott Plans Drama About Concussions in Pro Football

The 'Exodus' director reportedly has been meeting with A-list writers in his effort to create a sports drama about life-changing injuries in professional football.

Ridley Scott is keen to make a movie focusing on the effects of concussions among professional football players. While busy working on his Moses film "Exodus" starring Christian Bale, the filmmaker and his producing partner Giannina Facio have been meeting with A-list writers for what he hopes will be his next directing vehicle.

Deadline reports Scott is moved after reading articles about injured athletes including former NFL stars Junior Seau and Dave Duerson. Both committed suicide after suffering chronic traumatic encephalopathy and left messages requesting that their brains be studied in the hope the results would help fellow injured athletes.

The "Prometheus" director is said planning to "create a morality tale on that issue, much the way that Michael Mann's 'The Insider' took on the tobacco industry's complicity in covering up the addictive and cancer-causing effects of cigarette smoking."
