Kanye West and Miley Cyrus are, if you think about it, kindred spirits. They've both caused controversy at awards shows - Miley by mistreating a foam finger, Kanye by refusing to let Taylor Swift finish - and neither are strangers to criticism.
So it kind of makes sense that Yeezy has been busy defending the Wrecking Ball singer's signature dance moves.
Yup, while most were left screaming "MY EYES, MY EYES, OH MY GOD MY EYES!" after watching Miley Cyrus gyrate and twerk up against Robin Thick at their MTV Video Music Awards performance, Kanye loved it.
In fact, during a recent interview with 97.1 Amp Radio, Yeezy was quick to leap to Mileybird's defence. He even admitted that he totally encouraged her to twerk to her heart's content on the VMA stage.
“I just met her the day of the VMAs. And I was like, you know, 'Go. Go. Just go, go for it, do what you feel'.
"If that was a thought, if you have an idea creatively, from a Donda perspective [the name of West's creative company] I would just want her to twerk more. That would be my thing.
“I just think her entire performance should have just been twerking just all the time. Twerk twerk twerk twerk twerk twerk twerk twerk twerk, you know?"
In fact, according to We Can't Stop producer Mike Will Made It, Miley and Kanye got down to recording a track just hours after her fateful VMA appearance.
“We went to the studio with Kanye,” Mike Will told MTV's RapFix.
“We went right back to work. We made sure - boom. We watched the VMAs a little bit, but we went straight to the studio really. We're just touching the beat up a little bit, but it's about done. It's sounding crazy.
“Ye is somebody who understands. I think that people that understand it aren't really going to have anything too negative or anything too much to say about the performance. It's really the people who don't understand it and it's really the media.”
We can't wait for the day Miley persuades Kanye to twerk it up himself...
