Nope, we don't say that lightly. Tay-Tay is the second artist ever to receive the Pinnacle Award, which was bestowed upon her for achieving worldwide success and recognition with her unique brand of country music.
The only other person to have been honoured with the award is Garth Book, way back in 2005. THAT'S SO MANY YEARS AGO, ISN'T IT? It's an incredibly huge honour. And it seems as if the music community recognised that fact too, coming together to pay tribute to our girl Taylor in style.
Think Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, George Strait, Rascal Flatts, Brad Paisley, and Keith Urban, all of whom were on stage to give Taylor a congratulatory kiss. Think video messages from Mick Jagger, Ethel Kennedy, Justin Timberlake, Reese Witherspoon, Julia Roberts and many more. And think absolutely NO sign of Kanye West, the scene-stealing hack.
No wonder Taylor, who was dressed to perfection in a Haute Couture Elie Saab ballgown, burst into tears when she got to the podium.
In her acceptance speech, the songstress said, “You’re not only rewarding my hard work and exhaustion, you’re rewarding the hard work and exhaustion of my family, the label, and anyone that works for me, and most of all, the fans that fill stadiums.”
N'awww, bless her. We're glad she won - the 23 year old has worked her butt off to make her Swifties proud.
