Ne-Yo and his ‘crew’ allegedly walk out on an $800 dinner without paying
Hat-wearing R&B-crooning backwards-walking-dancer Ne-Yo has reportedly walked out on an $800 bill at a New York restaurant.
According to Confidenti@l, Ne-Yo and his ‘posse’ (also known as ‘crew’ or ‘entourage’ or ‘holler squad’) arrived at West Village restaurant Negril earlier this month, where he and his ‘gang’ enjoyed Grey Goose screwdrivers aplenty and a load of mac and cheese and chicken.
An eyewitness tells the newspaper: “We had a Monday Night Football thing – the Giants were in, too – and Ne-Yo came in with [road manager] Jayvon Smith, a group of girls, some guys and a bodyguard.
“He was ordering all this stuff and he kept asking people what they want, and kept the drinks coming.”
And despite Negril’s waitress being ‘run ragged’ by the group – including a security guard stationed at the bar – when it came time to pay, Ne-Yo and his lot ummed and ahhed about whose turn it was to settle the bill – so, uh, they didn’t. Hey Ne-Yo? You have to pay for the food you eat. You are 31, dude. Don’t pretend you don’t know this.
“She asked specifically, ‘Is it okay if everyone is on your cheque?’ and he said, ‘Yes,” says our source. “She hands it to him, he hands it to his manager, his manager hands it to another guy in the group, who hands it back to Ne-Yo.”
The group then departed to the nearby Griffin Hotel – where the manager of the restaurant tracked them and demand that they pay. “Ne-Yo’s bodyguard was trying to block the manager,” another source said. “He said ‘Ne-Yo is busy, I’m not going to get his credit card right now’.”
