Jake Gyllenhaal has been rushed to hospital after sustaining an injury on the set of his upcoming film, Nightcrawler.
The actor cut his hand after punching a mirror, because obviously. Mirrors are made of glass. It hurts to punch glass.
Jake pulled the ol’ mirror punch move as part of a scene rather than ‘because he is a moody teenager’, but required stitches either way.
A Jake rep said: “Jake was indeed filming Nightcrawler when during the shooting of an intense scene his character purposefully banged his hand into the mirror.
“Unfortunately the mirror broke and Jake’s hand was badly cut up. He got numerous stiches at the ER and was released. He already returned to the set for work.”
Jake plays ‘Lou’ in the film, a young dude who gets drawn into the world of undercover crime reporting. And everyone is going to watch it because he lost mad loads of weight for the role.
He unveiled his new gaunt, hollow look at last month’s Hollywood Film Awards, with reports suggesting he lost more than 20lbs to play the part.
"I knew that [Lou] was literally and figuratively hungry,” he said at the event. “[I was in a] mode where I was always a bit hungry." Art, yeah?
