X Factor winner James Arthur has loaded his ‘rap cannon’ with ‘swag bullets’ and taken aim at very former flame Rita Ora in a really sweary rap he done on BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Fire In The Booth. He’s so angry! He’s so edgy!
“But,” you’re thinking, “James Arthur is not a rapper. He is not a rap doer. He is a nan-pleasing X Factor winner. He sang that one about things being Impossible. Why is he saying things so fast.” Well, here’s why: because it turns out James is planning to release a rap mixtape later this year, so to prove his credentials he went on Charlie Sloth’s late-night Saturday hip hop show and did… a… freestyle? We’re not really sure what the technical term is. Unless James recreates 8 Mile scene-for-scene, we’re not really sure what he’s doing.
“I’m giving ten million [flips] less than Rita does / and that’s a lot of [flipping],” James rapped, while host Charlie Sloth said things like “BLAOW!” and “FAM!” and “JAMES ARTHUR!”. “Yeah, that’s a lot of [flips],” James continued.
“Some people’s Oras and demeanours can deceive us / but what they really want is a piece of your [rhymes with ‘deceive us’].”
“Totally bowled over by the positive reaction to my FITB on Twitter yesterday. A big risk for me and mind-blowing to get so much love.
“And for the record it wasn’t a Rita diss! She’s a mate and I meant that I’d like to live my life to the full and give less of a [flip] about everything just like she does! It’s something I really respect.” #LOVE
