The 'Work B**ch' singer is 'proud'
to be an ambassador for the organization that raises awareness about
the importance of music as part of a child's complete education.
Britney Spears has been named one of VH1's "Save the Music" ambassadors, Rolling Stone reports. The 31-year-old pop singer joins Cher Lloyd, Diane Birch, Hunter Hayes, and Taye Diggs as part of the 2014 Save the Music Ambassador Class.
VH1's Save the Music Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises awareness about the importance of music as part of a child's complete education. Founded in 1997, the organization has provided $51 million in new musical instruments in 1,900 public elementary and middle schools across the country.
The 2013 VH1 Save the Music Ambassador Class included Mariah Carey, Matchbox 20, B.o.B, Ingrid Michaelson, Robin Thicke, LeAnn Rimes, Andy Grammer and New York Rangers' Henrik Lundqvist.
"I am so proud to be a VH1 Save the Music Foundation ambassador," Spears said in a statement. "Music has always been a big role in my life, and as a mother, I can't imagine my children growing up without it."
The news comes just a month before Spears drops her eighth studio album, "Britney Jean", on December 3. The former Disney star is also currently prepping her two-year Las Vegas residency which kicks off on December 27 at Planet Hollywood.
