Amanda Bynes could be held in psychiatric care for up to a year

Amanda has been placed in involuntary psychiatric care

According to TMZ, Amanda – who was admitted to the Las Encinas hospital in Los Angeles last week – could be detained through an ‘involuntary hold’ should her mental health be deemed “grave” enough to warrant it.
“The plan is to get an LPS Hold, something a judge will grant at the behest of doctors but only if the patient is 'gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder or impairment by chronic alcoholism,” explained a source.
The same action was taken last year but it ran out last month. Shortly afterwards Amanda moved out of her parents’ home and friends of the 28-year-old claim this is when she began to struggle to cope.
Amanda found fame when she was just 10-years-old, after starring in All That and Nickelodeon's Figure It Out before getting her own, self-titled show.

But when she reached her 20s, she tried to break away from her old image but fell onto troubled times. She was arrested for driving under the influence of drink and drugs before later being placed in psychiatric care last year.
Last week, Amanda gave a bizarre interview stating: “I am very needy for friendship and I hate men. I want to f*** them, but I can now say I’m engaged.
“I want to be married and I want to be away from people.”
Shortly afterwards, Amanda took to her Twitter and claimed a chip in her brain was causing her to make a range of serious allegations at her dad, Rick.
Later that day, it was reported Rick and his wife, Amanda’s mum, Lynn, decided to place Amanda in a mental health unit and enlisted the help of a friend to bring Amanda.
