So, hey, we just got back from The Voice UK launch and we’re pretty excited. We’re not allowed to tell you much about the episode we saw (although it’ll go up on BBC’s iPlayer on Thursday if you want a sneak peek), but we can tell you that it was good.
The new coaches (Tom Jones told us off for calling them ‘judges’), Kylie Minogue and Kaiser Chief’s Ricky Wilson are great. They’re funny and flirtatious and c’mon, KYLIEKYLIEKYLIE – it’s Kylie.
The 45-year-old told us how she’s been asking her sister Dannii for advice on being a talent show judge (coach) and added: “I’ve watched her so much and now I can fully relate. I understand about being ‘TV Tired’ now.”
She also admitted, rather interestingly, that she turned down the job before series one because she “wasn’t ready.”
Our other favourite moments:
- will.i.am referring to Tom as the King of Wales (we think he actually believes this is who Tom is).
- Kylie needing a step to get up to her big red chair.
- Ricky talking about comparisons to his predecessor, The Scripts’ Danny O’Donoghue, saying: “I can’t wear those low slung t-shirts.”
- Will saying ‘toupee’ to Tom when he went ‘touché’.
- Ricky taking a swipe at X Factor, saying: “If you want to see people making fools of themselves go to other shows.” Meow.
- Kylie admitting that she “wouldn’t even get in the door” if she and Jessie J went head-to-head in a singing competition.
- Will admitting, “I don’t like reality TV.” No comment.
