The former Disney star's eight
studio effort, which she's been calling her 'most personal album ever,'
will arrive on December 3.
This December will be huge for pop superstar Britney Spears. The diva, who will headline her two-year residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas later this month, will release her eighth studio effort on December 3, just a day after she turns 32.
Spears has been calling her upcoming self-titled album "Britney Jean" "her most personal album ever." Lead single "Work B**ch" was released in September and has so far peaked at No. 12 on Billboard 100. Later in November, "Perfume" arrived as the single's follow-up.
In a new interview with ET Online, Spears talked about how working on her new album affected her life. "I would say [the album] was kind of like therapy for me. It just kind of transformed me. As you write something your perspective changes. So it's like my 'good therapy record,' " the mother of two said.
"I'm an artist so I think there are periods in everyone's life where you get kind of reclusive, your creative outlet is cut off," she continued. "Then sometimes it flows and you're like 'Oh my God, this is what I need to be doing' [which makes] it easier for you to be the artist that you want to be."
Spears also talked about her Las Vegas residency which will kick off on December 27, comparing it to her previous tours which required her to stay in a different bed every night. "I just thought it would be ideal to have one place that I could go back and forth to my home and [Las Vegas] and to have a show," the mother of two added. "So I'm really excited about it. It's going to be different, but I'm excited."
