Ryan Gosling Circling 'Houdini', 'Dr. Strange' and 'Suicide Squad'

The 'Lost River' director is eying not just one or two but three potential blockbusters including 'Suicide Squad' for his next starring vehicle.

Ryan Gosling who has enjoyed a successful career without starring in any big studio franchise is now reportedly setting his eyes on tentpole film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former Disney star is pursuing Summit's "The Secret Life of Houdini" and Marvel's "Dr. Strange".

"Houdini" was initially supposed to star Johnny Depp who is now heading Down Under to film "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales". Based on William Kalush and Larry Sloman's book, the film will portray Houdini not only as a famed magician and master escape artist but also as an investigator of the world of occult.

In the "Dr. Strange" casting mix, Gosling joins Ewan McGregor, Jake Gyllenhaal, Matthew McConaughey, Oscar Isaac, Jared Leto and Ethan Hawke in a stiff competition to win the coveted role of the Sorcerer Supreme. Marvel was forced to find another actor after their favorite Joaquin Phoenix dropped out of negotiations.

On top of that, Gosling is also mentioned as a candidate for "Suicide Squad", a Warner Bros. adaptation of DC Comics' supervillain team. The former child star is lined up along with Margot Robbie, Tom Hardy and Will Smith for the anti-hero flick to be directed by David Ayer for a 2016 release.

Gosling who just welcomed his first daughter with girlfriend Eva Mendes was last seen in crime thriller "Only God Forgives". He recently wrote, directed and produced fantasy-neo-noir film "Lost River" starring his girlfriend and actress Christina Hendricks. He will next star in an untitled Terrence Malick project and will film Shane Black's "The Nice Guys" opposite Russell Crowe.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Absent From Fox News After Secret Surgery

The former 'The View' co-host will be off 'Fox and Friends' for several weeks after undergoing a surgery on Tuesday.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck takes a hiatus from work after undergoing a secret surgery on Tuesday, October 14. Her "Fox & Friends" co-host Steve Doocy explained her absence on the show Wednesday morning, saying, "In case you were wondering where Elisabeth is today and this week, well, she had some surgery yesterday and she's going to be out for a couple of weeks. But she's doing just fine, she's on the mend."

Brian Kilmeade added, "But as you know if you watch the show, she is strong, she is tough and a better athlete than me. We heard from her last night and she said she is feeling good. So, in a short time, she'll be back on the set." Kilmeade and Doocy were joined by Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle, who filled in for Hasselbeck, that morning.

There's no word on what health issue which required Hasselbeck to go under the knife, but a Fox News spokesperson told The Wrap, "Elisabeth has asked for all to respect her wishes for privacy in regards to further details at this time."

'High School Musical' Star Corbin Bleu Engaged to Sasha Clements

The 25-year-old actor popped the question to his girlfriend in front of Cinderella's Castle at Walt Disney World.

Corbin Bleu is engaged to his girlfriend, actress Sasha Clements. According to PEOPLE, the "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" actor proposed to Sasha in front of Cinderella's Castle at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida on Wednesday night, October 15.

Corbin presented his girlfriend with an engagement ring he had put inside a glass slipper right before the park's famous fireworks show began. He told the site of his engagement, "I'm very excited to begin this next chapter of my life with the woman who stole my heart."

Earlier in the day, the runner-up of "Dancing with the Stars" season 17 shared on Twitter a photo of him and Sasha posing together at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando. Both of them also took to Instagram to post videos of them playing around in the Harry Potter park.

Corbin and Sasha, who first met at a grocery store in Toronto, have been dating since 2011.

Corbin, who has appeared on "One Life to Live" and "Drop Dead Diva", will next appear in upcoming independent movie "Shaker Pointe". Sasha, meanwhile, is known for starring as Kiki Kincaid on "Majority Rules!" and recently appeared in "How to Build a Better Boy".
