A rep for Gomez confirms the cancellation and says that the star needs some rest since she's 'been on the road for six months.'
Selena Gomez has canceled the Australian leg of her "Stars Dance" tour. In a statement released on Thursday, December 19, the 21-year-old singer explained that she made the decision because she wanted to have more time for herself.
"My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them," she wrote. "But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be."
"To my fans, I sincerely apologize and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me," she added.
The reason may sound bizarre for fans. However, a rep for Gomez has commented on the news, saying that the star does need some rest after years of working nonstop. "She's been on the road for six months and she's just ready to be normal and at home with her family," the rep told PEOPLE. "She's been working nonstop since she was 15 and wants to take a minute to herself."
The second North American leg of Gomez's "Stars Dance" world tour wrapped up last November. She was supposed to bring her tour to Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in February after visiting Asian countries next January.
