The 'Wrecking Ball' singer cancels
her appearance at the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach, Florida, to join
Ryan Seacrest's New Year bash in Times Square, New York.
Miley Cyrus
has changed her plan for New Years' eve. The former Disney star, who
was originally scheduled to make an appearance at the Fontainebleau
Miami Beach alongside Pharrell Williams, is ditching the bash to perform in Times Square for this year's Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest.
"Smilers! There's been a change in my NYE plans. @RyanSeacrest asked me to perform in Times Square for #RockinEve!!" Cyrus announced her new plan in a Twitter post. She also tweeted an apology to the Fontainebleau, adding, "I'm bummed I won't be in Miami. [I] wanna thank the homies @Fontainebleau 4 their support #turnupforme."
Seacrest confirmed Cyrus' addition to the New York party during a Wednesday, December 11 appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!". "We just added Miley Cyrus to be in Times Square right before the ball drops," the "American Idol" host told Jimmy Kimmel. "We try to look for the artist that's created a lot of buzz and had a really big year."
Kimmel then made a joke about how the cold weather in the city might kill Cyrus, who's been known for wearing flesh-baring suits. "I'm wondering what she'll wear because all year she's worn provocative outfits," Seacrest added. "We'll see what she's gonna wear in Times Square, but we're excited to have her."
Speaking of being provocative, Cyrus recently talked about her now-infamous MTV Video Music Award performance in an interview before taking the stage at the Jingle Ball in Atlanta. "Everyone else's biggest moment of me was the VMAs," she said as cited by E! Online. "That was probably my biggest moment, I was pretty stoked to perform there, excited, you know."
However, Liam Hemsworth's ex-fiancee wondered if she was allowed to return to the annual awards show in the coming years. "I doubt they're ever gonna ask me back," she continued. She then quipped, "Just kidding. Who knows?"
Despite the controversy, Cyrus was happy with the performance. "It kind of just opened so many doors for me to just be like, alright, I've already pissed you off as much as I possibly can," she explained. "So now I can kind of just be freer and kind of do whatever it is we want to do and also have a lot of fun."
