Kim Kardashian eBays her clothes to help Philippines typhoon victims… but only donates 10% of the profits

Kim Kardashian has joined the Philippines typhoon aid efforts this week, auctioning some of her actual clothes on eBay and donating the profits to charity.

Well, uh, some of the profits. As the eBay listing for some of the items on sale note, Kim is donating just 10% of the profits to International Medical Corps – which, when you’re worth an estimated $40 million, is ‘not much’.
Linking to the auction on her blog, Kim said: “Hi guys, this is a very special auction because a portion of the proceeds of my eBay auction are going to International Medical Corps, which is a nonprofit organization that provides critical health services on remote islands where families are struggling to access medical care and basic resources like food, clean drinking water and vital medications.

“The proceeds will go directly to the communities they’re serving in the Philippines and will help typhoon survivors get access to medical care and ultimately save lives.”

And with the 10% from the Stella McCartney floral lace dress and Dolce & Gabbana blouse Kim is selling, the IMC should be able to buy a good couple of bottles of water and maybe some supermarket own-brand sticking plasters! So take that, typhoon! Kardashian power!

Obviously any efforts towards the cause will be appreciated and make a difference and &c. &c. &c., but we can’t help think that Kim – who, remember, is worth $40 million – could have just upped the eBay Giving Works counter up a few notches and donated 100%. Especially when fellow celebs such as Victoria and David Beckham are donating entire boxes of shoes to charity efforts in London, without taking a penny for themselves.
